I watched this movie without reading anything about it before, I just stumbled on this movie and gave it a shot. The problem is not that it's in German, even though it's quite funny to see that all Asians speak German, but the fact that I'm fifty years old and that this movie is made for kids between five and eight.

So the whole movie looks and sounds very childish. I have a wide imagination but this one is just too childish. If I were six years old I would probably love this movie, but I'm not, I'm fifty and so this movie is, even if it's well made, just not for me.

Jeder Mensch müsse seine eigenen Werte immer wieder neu erfinden, um sich selbst in der Welt als sinnvoll zu erleben und sein Leben mit anderen danach auszurichten.

Und was für den Einzelnen gelte, gelte für die Allgemeinheit: jede Familie, jede Generation, jede Gesellschaft müsse Vorstellungen davon entwickeln, wie das Leben des Einzelnen darin ausgerichtet, wie das Miteinander gestaltet wird.

Jeder müsse sich entscheiden, welche Werte er seinem Leben zugrunde legen will. Und jede Gesellschaft muss die Werte festlegen, die die Grundlage ihres Zusammenlebens bilden soll.

Im Guten oder auch im Bösen. Michael Ende hatte sich sehr bewusst dafür entschieden, die Welt als sinnvoll zu erleben. Es sei sehr viel schöner in einer sinnvollen Welt zu leben, auch wenn verdammt viel schwerer. Denn in diesem Fall haben wir die Verantwortung - für die eigenen Vorstellungen, die da in die Welt hineingetragen werden, aber auch für deren Umsetzung und Einhaltung.
